Amil Tellers  members and friends are saddened by the passing of long time Encore stalwart Chris Butturff. Click to see the celebration of Chris's life.

Following is his obituary from The Lima News on Wednesday March 2, 2021:

Avenir Light is a clean and stylish font favored by designers. It's easy on the eyes and a great go to font for titles, paragraphs & more.

CRIDERSVILLE — Christopher A. Butturff, age 51, passed at 2:29 p.m., Sunday, February 28, 2021 at St. Rita's Medical Center, following a battle with cancer. He was born September 25, 1969 in Lima, Ohio to Ralph E. and Maxine Kay Smith Butturff of Waynesfield.

Christopher, also lovingly known as 'FooFur', graduated from Waynesfield Goshen High School and received his Associates degree in marketing from NorthWestern Business College. He had worked at Kerns Fireplace and Spa in Lima. Growing up, he attended the Waynesfield Baptist Church and began writing plays at the age of 13 for the church.

He was multifaceted and very creative. He was an active board member with both the Amil Tellers-Encore Theater Group and the Wapakoneta Theatre Guild. Another organization he was involved with was the Van Wert Civic Theater. Chris was part of a improv writer's group in which he would write and then preform in.

Chris collected action figures of all kinds. Star Wars was his favorite and he would display these in his 'Geek Room.'

He loved collecting movies and going to the movie theater. He had started a YouTube Channel about the plays he had been in. Chris will always be remembered for being kindhearted, having a good sense of humor, and his love of the theater.

Chris loved life and was an exceptional young man that profoundly loved his family. Nothing was more important - than family. He was blessed with very loving parents that always encouraged him.

Also surviving is his brother Eric and his wife Elaine Butturff of Lima. Eric was not only his brother, but a significant part of his life. Chris considered Elaine more like the sister he never had; she was steller and he was proud to have her as part of the family.

Elisabeth Butturff, a niece, held a very special place in Chris's heart. She loved keeping Chris on his toes and bantering with him.

Chris is also survived by a longtime best friend and "brother", Charles Smith of Cridersville.

A celebration of Chris's life will begin 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Encore Theater, North Shore Drive, Lima. Rev. Don Smith will be directing the service.

The family will be present from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 6 at the Encore Theater for friends to visit.

Contributions may be given to the Encore Theater.

The Board of Trustees at Encore Theatre is asking for your help!

Keeping our theatre running, while always a challenge, has become especially difficult during these trying times. As you are aware our doors were closed last March due to the Covid 19 Pandemic. Performances, rehearsals, and auditions came to a halt causing revenue to stop coming in.

While the effects of Covid 19 cancelled all theatre activities, it did not cancel expenses such as utilities, mortgage, insurance, maintenance and repairs, etc... These expenses continue as normal.

We appreciate your continued patronage, membership, and season tickets purchases, but we are asking for additional monetary donations to help keep Encore “Afloat” during these dark times.

All monies raised will go toward basic operating expenses. All donations will be greatly appreciated and are tax deductible.  Donation can be made on line using the following link
